A series of illustrations paying tribute to the best place for Summer, Maine. Inspired by Eric Carle's minimalist style, I wanted to capture the MAIN elements of summer here in ME.

Goals of the project:

Create series of postcard prints paying tribute to a summer in Maine

Experiment with new, minimalist illustration style inspired by Eric Carle

Animate each illustration, referencing the back and forth motion of the tide on the beach

Design Direction

For this series I wanted to experiment with a newer and more minimalist illustration style inspired by Eric Carle. Keeping in mind his simplistic, cut out paper style, I restricted myself to only straight angles for each shape. For the color palette, I referenced an old Polish camping map cover illustration from1972.

Spending much of my Summer outside exploring the beautiful state of Maine, I wanted to bring each composition to life with animation. The back and forth horizontal motion was inspired by the flow of the tide on the Maine beaches.
